Darren Johns

Head of Security Protection Policies development

Darren began his career in 1991 as a Telecommunications Operator for the Royal Air Force, responsible for the coordinated transmission and reception of secure telecommunications all over the world. After the operator and the technical trades merged Darren was able to explore his more technical nature. He worked as a Network Administrator on a secure network ensuring communications were maintained, again on a global scale. After that he worked as an Oracle Database Administrator managing, configuring and maintaining a large database used by high level management for the reporting of key statistics and critical information. Darren had a desire to work in IT security and this was met when he worked as a Network Security Analyst/Engineer at the Joint Cyber Unit. Darren was the technical lead for a team managing, maintaining and developing network security sytems as well as responsible for the security policies they held. Darren is now the Senior Security Engineer responsible for identifying and re-creating the latest exploits for our bespoke TIQ Pro application as well as writing the Snort rules which will alert our customers to these threats. Darren holds two GIAC qualifications GCIA and GCIH as well as SnortCP and SFCP.
